parent drop-ins
Once a month, Tailor Ed holds a Parent Drop-in. These are open to parents who want to make up teaching materials for their child with resources, coffee and our ideas and laminating skills at their disposal! Whether it's a visual timetable, some PECS symbols or an illustrated social story, we are available to support and assist.
Please get in touch for further details.
Workshops
Over the past year we have run a series of workshops relating to various daily living skills that commonly pose challenges for parents who have children with autism. These include areas such as dressing, toileting, expanding a restricted diet and preparing for appointments. For information on future workshops, click here.
Sign-a-long courses
Over the past year we have run a number of Sign-a-long courses; fun, interactive ways of learning functional signs which we often use with the children we work with.
Previous Events
Tailor Ed at The Yard
On Friday 22nd July 2011, the Tailor Ed team spent the afternoon at The Yard (a purpose built indoor and outdoor play facility and adventure playground for children and young people with additional support needs). It was a great opportunity to spend some informal time getting to know parents and their children better, meet families on the wait list and encourage people to access a specialised play resource which they may not have known about before.
Parents Evening: Getting to know the tiger
Our first parents evening was held on the 10th of November 2008 and we had the kind donation of The Yard as the venue. It was great to see so many parents and gather some very useful feedback. This will help make sure our new service will be best suited to the needs of families of children with autism and will also help support our applications for funding. Thanks.
